What is the primary advantage of MC Nylon sheets over extruded nylon sheets?
The main advantage is lower internal stress and superior dimensional stability. The casting process allows the material to form without the stresses induced by extrusion, meaning it is far less likely to warp or move after heavy machining. It also allows for much larger and thicker sheet production.
Is this material a PA6 or PA66 grade?
Our standard MC Nylon is typically a Type 6 Polyamide, offering an excellent combination of strength and toughness. We can also produce other grades, including PA66 or specialized formulations with internal lubricants, upon request for specific application requirements.
Does this material need to be annealed after machining?
In most cases, annealing is not required for parts machined from MC Nylon. Its inherent low internal stress means it remains stable after material removal, which saves significant time and cost compared to working with extruded nylon, which often requires a post-machining annealing step.
How does MC Nylon compare to UHMW-PE sheet?
MC Nylon is significantly harder, stiffer, and has a much higher compressive strength and operating temperature than UHMW-PE. It is better for high-load structural components and gears. UHMW-PE has a lower coefficient of friction and superior sliding abrasion resistance in dusty or gritty environments, making it better for applications like chute liners.
